Theodore Johnson was a senior executive of UPS and invested
in company stock throughout his career. His shares in UPS appreciated
to the point where he and Mrs. Johnson were able to endow a philanthropic
foundation. Mr. Johnson felt he had been fortunate in his choice
of career at UPS. He established a scholarship program to assist
children of UPS employees in Florida to attend university.
The CHILDREN of United Parcel Service employees or retirees
who live in Florida are eligible for scholarship funds to attend
college or vocational school in Florida.
Applicants must be qualified
high school graduates who demonstrate financial need.
Financial need is a factor
in determining the amount of the award once the recipients
are chosen. Individual scholarships
are based on the family’s ability to contribute toward
the expense of the student’s chosen schooling. Recipients
must demonstrate need as calculated by the administrator
of our scholarship program, Scholarship America.
Awards, which are for undergraduate
study only, range from $1,000 to $10,000 per year.
Community college students and
vocational school students may receive a maximum of $5,000
per year.
Awards may be renewed for up
to three additional years of undergraduate study on the basis
of satisfactory academic
performance.
The deadline for application is April 15th.
The completed application must be sent to Scholarship America
at 1505 Riverview Road, PO Box 297, Saint Peter, MN 56082
