The Clarke School for the Deaf was founded in 1867 as the first permanent oral school for the deaf in the United States. It has gained an international reputation as a pioneer and leader in this field. In 2006, the Foundation made a matching grant of $100,000 for student scholarships. In 2007, the Foundation made a further grant in the amount of $117,000. In 2008, the Foundation entered into a multi-year matching scholarship and endowment agreement with Clarke School. Under the terms of the agreement, Clarke School will raise matching funds for the Foundation’s scholarship support in order to build a permanent endowment of over $1.175 million for deaf and hard of hearing children in financial. Clarke School has 5 campuses along the east coast of the United States.
